Earrings sawn from solid wood, lined with brass by hand.

Christmas Rose earring in wood with hand-set brass lines, hanging from the Shamseh Dawn

Six winter designs, each in two woods. I cut every pair by hand in Budapest, set its brass lines and give it a number. Order by 14 December and it arrives before Christmas, in a black gift box.

Brass lines, set by hand

Each bright line is solid brass. I cut a fine groove into the wood, press the brass wire into it by hand, and sand wood and brass down to one smooth surface.

Simetra, from symmetry

Read the name backwards and you get Artemis, goddess of the moon. Each season I choose one symbol and hang every design from it. For winter I chose the Shamseh Dawn, the first sun after the longest night. Persian families stay awake together through that night, Shab-e Yalda, to greet it.

Before you order

Are they for pierced ears?

Yes. Each earring hangs from a hook for pierced ears.

Can you send it straight to the person I am giving it to?

Yes. Enter their name and address at checkout, or choose a GLS parcel locker near them. I email the invoice to you, and I put no price in the parcel.

When will they arrive?

I ship from 15 November, in order of purchase, with GLS and send you the tracking link. Order by 14 December and your pair arrives before Christmas.

When do I pay?

When you order, at checkout. Finished pairs ship from 15 November. Pairs made to order ship by 21 December.

How big and heavy are they?

The designs measure 24 to 36 mm, about the size of a 200 forint coin, and hang below a 22 x 27 mm Base. With the hook, each earring is about 7 to 8.5 cm long and weighs 3 to 4.5 g, less than a 20 forint coin. Each product page gives the exact size.

Can I cancel or return them?

Yes, this is your legal right of withdrawal. From the day you order until 14 days after your earrings arrive, you can withdraw without giving a reason. Tell me in writing and I refund the price and standard delivery within 14 days. If a parcel has already reached you, I refund once it is on its way back to me, and you pay the return postage. You can look at the earrings and hold them against your ear, as you would in a shop. If a pair comes back worn, I deduct the loss in value from the refund, for example the cost of new hooks.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Ebony, Ziricote and Padauk can irritate very sensitive skin. I seal the wood with a plant-based hardwax oil. The hooks and loops, the parts that touch your skin, are gold-tone PVD-coated stainless steel, and my supplier provides REACH documentation for them.

Will the brass turn my skin green?

The brass lines sit on the front of the earring, sealed under hardwax oil, and do not rest on your skin. The parts that touch you, the hook and the small loops, are gold-tone PVD-coated stainless steel.

Will the colour change?

Wood darkens in daylight. Padauk turns from bright red towards warm brown in its first months. Over the months, brass takes on a warmer, deeper tone.

How do I care for them?

Keep them dry and away from perfume. Wipe them with a soft, dry cloth, and store them in their box.

Can you make them look new again later?

Yes. In the first 2 years you can send them to me up to twice a year. I sand and re-oil the face so the brass shines again, free of charge. You pay the postage both ways.
